Erick’s journey into optics began by chance at the Palm Bay library, when a career catalog pointed him toward “Optician.” Inspired by his father’s blindness and guided by mentors at LensCrafters, he learned the most important lesson: focus on the human in front of you, not corporate sales goals.

During his years as Retail Manager, Erick hired Stacie, training her in optics. They bonded like siblings, with Stacie jokingly calling herself his “Grasshopper.” After Erick’s promotion, Stacie pursued ophthalmology and eventually opened Freedom Optical in Cocoa Village, creating a patient-first practice.

Years later, after Erick left LensCrafters and tried HR, he reunited with Stacie at a continuing education event. Over drinks, he asked if she’d help him start his own optical. Laughing, she said, “I’ve been waiting for you to ask!” With help from Stacie, they launched Liberty Optical, built on friendship, mentorship, and a shared commitment to quality care.

Today, Erick calls himself Stacie’s Grasshopper. They continue to laugh, challenge, and support each other—just like the old days—while giving patients the time, honesty, and care they deserve.

During your visit, you will receive essential screenings, including: *Cataracts *Glaucoma *Color Vision *Depth Perception *Retinal Imaging (Using the same equipment as world-class providers, such as the Mayo Clinic.) *Visual field Screening (side vision test). After your exam is complete, a print copy of your eyeglass prescription will be provided to you. Our contact lens fitting process includes two follow-up appointments and trials as needed to ensure your comfort and satisfaction with your eyewear.
